Restaurant review: Amici, London organic Italian
Know a restaurant that serves organic or locally-sourced food? (Or even sports wind turbines and solar panels?) Email me a review - I'll stick the best up here.
Amici, London, UK
The managers of this London local buy most of their ingredients from
organic Italian companies Nife (its Mozz is in the picture) and Vincenza. The menu contains what any Italian foodie would expect, plus some unusual and innovative stuff. Take this pair: the Insalata Siciliana with
baby spinach, sweet garden peas, feta cheese and lemon juice - odd but delicious - and the Tagliatelle Gorgonzola E Pesto, which combines two well known sauces to rich effect. Elsewhere, the pasta's suitably al dente and the pizzas bases are thin and topped with enticing flavour combos - Neopolitans would be proud. Staff are friendly, the decor's IKEA modern and you can watch the kitchen upstairs or sit downstairs for quiet. Book in advance for Fri and Sat nights.
