It's a hard job sampling organic food in the name of taste testing, but
some Hippyshopper's got to do it. This month I've mostly been scoffing
Yeo Valley's entire range of organic dairy goodies from the south west.
Instead of killing you softly, thickly and creamily with opinions on
the entire range, here are my highlights and verdicts. For the sake of balance, I really wanted to tell you some of it was horrid. That, however, would be fibbing:
- Creme fraiche - spot-on. Just the right consistency and sourness.
- 4pk summer yoghurts - you can reallly taste the fruit, especially the rhubarb one.
- Vanilla fat-free yoghurt - delicious, obviously has plenty of vanilla pods in it. Creamier than you'd expect for a fat-free job.
- Fruit compots - mushy, tart and very fruity. Particularly good with plain yoghurt.
- Thick cream - luxurious and fresh. Perfect partner for a hot choc brownie.
- Unsalted butter - good, but as Yeo suggests, best suited to baking and cooking than spreading
- 4pk Fruit tumbles - yes, it's basically baby food. As it tastes like a mousse, however, it's good for kids who don't like the runny texture and the fact that you find real fruit in normal yoghurts
All the major supermarkets stock Yeo; you can find more info on its cutesy website. [with thanks to Tim and Josie for arduous work on the tasting]
