I know you brits are all for weird measurement units, but honestly, "more than three quarters of the street lighting in the country" is one of the fuzziest measurements in a while. I know it's not too hard to calculate the energy impact yourself, but it would be nice to provide some bit clearer numbers anyway.
I thought that you just had to fill your cup with water, then pour the water into the kettle and voila. Right amount (or put a bit more to compensated for evaporation).
this is a great idea, but if you're at all concerned about the environment, you're probably also concerned about plastic from the container sneaking into your food. i don't think it's smart to have boiling water in a plastic container - it makes the plastic that much more likely to leach into your water. i was about to buy this, but then saw this post http://selfsufficientish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=23992&
